The program was established in 2003 by twins,
Keith and Kent Zimmerman, New York Times best-selling authors of Hell’s Angel: The Life and Times of Sonny Barger and the Hell’s Angels. They have authored close to twenty books. The “Zimmermen” initiated the program at San Quentin State Prison in California.
David Corbett, is the Edgar-nominated author of The Long-Lost Love Letters of Doc Holliday, and other novels. He teaches creative writing courses.
Scott Bohlmann is a volunteer at three prisons in the CDCR system. Besides teaching in the Yardtime Literary Program at DVI, CHCF and CCWF, he also teaches African American History and Philosophy at DVI. He has been volunteering in this capacity three days a week for close to six years. He successfully runs an engineering firm and has for the past twenty-one years. He is an amateur writer which gives him a unique perspective into the challenges of the students.
